TASC runs Tibetan Language and Cultural Art School for our Tibetan children to teach Tibetan language, art, and cultural heritage. Volunteer teachers teach two different classes of Tibetan language and culture to our children and adults alike.
GOALS:
All Children receive sound education, a firm cultural identity and become self-reliant and contributing members of the Tibetan Community and the world at large.
Develop character and moral values, good manners, respect for elders, personal responsibility, and a positive and mindful attitude
Provide effective education that enhances children’s love for reading, writing and speaking Tibetan
Teach Tibetan history and culture to develop a sound understanding of Tibetan identity and culture.
Provide environment for physical and intellectual growth
Classes are divided into two grade levels. In the lower grade class, children learn about the important aspects of Tibetan heritage: Tibetan alphabet, basic writing, simple prayers, simple songs and dances. In higher grade class, children learn about Tibetan history, Tibetan grammar and poetry, composition, prayers, and cultural performances.
In order to preserve and promote Tibetan language, culture, and religion to our future generation, we are in dire need of a Tibetan Community & Cultural Center with class rooms where we can have permanent home for our children to learn about their native Tibetan heritage and celebrate and share our cultural events.
