TASC runs Tibetan Language and Cultural Art School for our Tibetan children to teach Tibetan language, art, and cultural heritage. Volunteer teachers teach two different classes of Tibetan language and culture to our children and adults alike.

GOALS:

Classes are divided into two grade levels. In the lower grade class, children learn about the important aspects of Tibetan heritage: Tibetan alphabet, basic writing, simple prayers, simple songs and dances. In higher grade class, children learn about advance writing & reading, Tibetan history, Tibetan grammar and poetry, composition, prayers, and cultural performances.

Performing Arts Classes includes lessons on Tibetan folk songs, dances, music, traditional musical instruments such as Dranyen (Tibetan Lute).

Our performing arts sessions include traditional Tibetan Dances from 3 provinces of Tibet - Amdo, Kham and U-Tsang.  Children, musicians and performers from TASC participate in various cultural events throughout the year.

Through this program we are successfully transferring our unique language and performing arts traditions to the next generation who will continue to preserve the rich traditions of Tibet in the multicultural Southland Environment.

In order to preserve and promote Tibetan language, cultural art to our future generation, we are in dire need of a Tibetan Community & Cultural Center with class rooms where we can have permanent home for our children to learn about their native Tibetan heritage and celebrate and share our cultural events.
